A very handsome, fast growing species found naturally growing from Clanwilliam in the Western Cape to Port Elizabeth in the east. It has a tufted growth form with compact long lasting flowering bracts. The specific name “tectorum” means roofing and this Restio has been used as thatch, along with other species. An excellent species for windy sites especially seaside gardens good in pots to. Like any soil types and hardy to about -7/-8⁰C.
